The best surf trips, despite their name, are rarely the best because of the surfing. Yeah, surfing is the thread that ties the whole trip together, but it’s the people you’re with and/or the culture you’re in that really makes a surf trip great.
Jordy Smith does a lot of surf trips. Most of them are to places with extremely good waves. Some of them, though, are to places like Japan, where the waves aren’t the best (despite the fact that Olympic surfing will be there). But you know what? Jordy’s trip through Japan is much more interesting than Jordy surfing in Japan.
