Southern California’s been getting belted by El Niño this year, but it’s not all doom and gloom. Amid widespread flooding and destruction across the Southland, Kalani Robb and Beefs TV found a weird little backwash wave in Laguna Beach.
The wave in question was right in front of Surf & Sand. The five-star oceanfront hotel has been an iconic fixture of the Laguna Beach shoreline since 1948. Recently, though, it’s been battered by surf generated from the high tides, hurricane swells, and Kelvin waves resulting from this year’s powerful El Niño.
The upside to all that was that the waves hitting the hotel were so heavy that they actually rebounded and made a little novelty wave – a feature which Kalani Robb and Beefs gleefully took advantage of while avoiding floating debris cast off of nearby homes.
