Every surfer has a special place in their heart for one particular surf spot. Everybody. It’s that one place that might not be the best wave you’ve surfed, but it’s always the best wave you’ve ever surfed. And whether or not you know how or why it got to be special in your eyes isn’t as important as just acknowledging the fact that it’s your spot. I know mine, with every nook cut into the cliffs, every rock that pops up for some sunlight at low tide, and every crevice in the rocky path to get into the water. I’d guess you know as much about your spot also.
For Kalani Robb that wave breaks at Rocky Point. Growing up on the North Shore he had more than enough quality options for waves that could steal his heart, but Rocky Point gets the nod not because of one particular childhood memory, one amazing wave or one perfect day. He has a connection with somebody that will keep this place in his heart, and that’s exactly why K Robb plans to spend more than just this lifetime surfing here.
Not a bad plan for the afterlife.
