“We all get lucky.” Luck and a demigod’s genetic makeup that has 42-year-old Kelly Slater surfing arguably better than 35-year-old Kelly Slater, and 30-year-old Kelly Slater… and so on. We’re not sure why TMZ decided to call Kelly in for this feat — we’re not even sure they fully appreciate how awesome the 540 really was — but it is cool to see surf continually getting mainstream recognition for these sorts of accomplishments.
As a side note: this has to be one of the first times Kelly has been interviewed by TMZ since that whole Baywatch/Pamela Anderson debacle, right?
