The Inertia

DC’s latest comic book hero origin story, Aquaman, dropped a few days before Christmas, and the film’s star, Jason Momoa has been attending premiere after premiere promoting the film. You may be wondering what, besides Aquaman being an ocean-dwelling hero, the film has to do with surfing. The answer? Nothing. But being from Honolulu, and of native Hawaiian ancestry, the Honolulu premiere turned into an emotional celebration of Polynesian heritage.

A handful of Hawaiian surfers were invited to attend, including Makua and Koa Rothman. In his latest episode of This Is Livin’ Koa allows us to be a fly on the wall of the Aquaman afterparty wherein we learn that Momoa doesn’t appreciate rogue cameras in his face–ironic given he’s paid to perform in front of the lens.
