The Inertia

Koa Rothman has been holed up in Fiji for what feels like forever, but he’s finally back in the wild. For his latest video, he took a trip to Australia to surf with Bobby Martinez.

First off, Koa took a visit to the Australian Pyzel factory to pick up some boards. After acquiring his equipment, along with some sponsor content, Koa and co. pulled up to Lennox, where he was joined by Bobby Martinez, Dean ‘Dingo’ Morrison and Ryan ‘Hippo’ Hipwood. The plan had been to drive around looking for the right break, but the first stop ended up being the last.

“We’re still at Lennox. I just saw a wave spit. You can do like 15 turns on a wave.” Koa said to the camera, while chugging a canned coffee. “It’s pumping. It’s firing. Australia. First real session in Australia. It doesn’t even look crowded, too. I’ve had so much coffee. I’m just having more, too, for no reason.”

Koa took that energy out to the water with Bobby Martinez and Hippo, and his excitement was justified. The long, right-hand point proved exceedingly rippable, and Martinez got to display his famed backhand attack.

Unfortunately, Rothman had to end the session early due to lower back pain, but here’s to hoping that’s only a small speed bump in this Australian adventure.
