Of all the surf spots in the world, the ones on the North Shore might be the most well-known. Pipe, Rockies, Sunset, etc.. . they are not secret spots. Not even close. And since the majority of people who call the North Shore home surf, we’d wager that the seven-mile stretch of sand that’s become so famous has been relatively well-explored. And while it’s not a surf spot, there is a lunch place that has been explored more than most.
Winter on the North Shore has started early this year, and Koa Rothman is wasting no time in getting in on the action. In his most recent installment to the vlog world, he takes the viewer through a day in surfing’s Mecca, including Pupukea Grill — a place which, if you’ve been there, you know serves the best post-surf grinds around. And Koa, it appears, is attempting to eat the entire menu in one sitting.
Afterwards, he heads out for another session. There are still waves that aren’t surfed all that often. Not waves quite as good as Pipeline, perhaps, but good nonetheless. “The squad scored some sick waves and we ended up going to a very very strange wave that we never surf!” Koa wrote.
Rocky Point was big. Pipeline wasn’t working. The summertime sand is still on it, but a few more big swells will fix that quickly. Hopefully Koa will be out of his food coma by then, because that lunch was… BIG.
