The Inertia

When Kolohe Andino qualified for the world tour back in 2012, he had a reputation as an aerial wonder kid from San Clemente. He was expected to take the world by storm – maybe winning a world title right out the gate. That didn’t happen, unfortunately. But maybe it’s better that way. Where the Nike 6.0 Kolohe famously took to the air often, and expectedly – a kick in the teeth like a shot of cheap mescal – the new Kolohe has learned that an incredible air game can only get you so far.

Bad results on multiple occasions (some serious robberies, I might add!) have driven Kolohe to reinvent, and try something new via tried and true power surfing. “Back to Basics” isn’t just a video clip, it’s a manifesto. Not a single chop hop, air reverse, or full rotation. All serious powerhouse rail game. This is a new Kolohe. More mature, more collected – disappointed, maybe, by a lack of success, but determined to make good on those world title predictions by any means necessary.
