The Inertia

Lance’s Right, also known as Hollow Trees or just HT’s, is a fantastic wave. It’s a wave out of your childhood sketchbook that you doodled your dreams in during math class. But when it gets big and angry… well, it’s not a wave for everyone. And on August 11, it wasn’t a wave for everyone.

“Not many surfers tried their luck on this heavy condition, straight south swell at Hollow trees, aka Lance’s Right,” wrote Surf Raw Files. “A few guys still got lucky!”

This particular day featured a solid, straight south with an 18-second period. It was filmed from about 4:30 in the afternoon until the sun set. The tide was full and the waves were big. But for those who had a crack… well, they’re going to remember it for a long time.
