The mainstream press loves a good shark tail (see what we did there?). Seven-year-old Chandler Moore was surfing in the New Smyrna Beach, Florida shorebreak when a shark jumped out of nowhere and whipped him off his board. The boy and his dad, Shaun, didn’t know it was a shark until checking the footage later.
Dad posted the vid on Twitter and the mainstream media went bonkers – ABC, the New York Post, CNN, all ran pieces on what looks to be a relatively tiny black tip shark taking out the young grom. New Smyrna has been dubbed the “shark bite capital of the world,” so the hubub might be excused. Plus who knows, the kid may be the next great talent to come out of Florida. He’s off to a solid start. And he’s learning how to handle the media early.
