Malia Ward, pro surfer, model and sometime red carpet host for The Inertia, stars in the Flaming Lips’ new music video, “The Castle.” Actually, the 19-year-old not only stars in it, she’s the only thing in it.

Accompanied by lo-fi illustrations, the San Clemente ripper’s gestures and facial expressions tell the story of the woman described in the lyrics. The first bar alone shows the Oklahoma-born psychedelic rock band chose an appropriate muse:

“Her eyes were butterflies..
Her smile was a rainbow
Her hair was sunbeam waves..
Shining round like a halo”

“The Castle” is a single from the band’s album Oczy Mlody, expected to drop in January.

Ward, currently ranked 104th on the women’s QS rankings, has scored a couple of 13th place finishes this year, in addition to snatching first place in September at the RVCA Newport Championships. Ward won a scant $100 for taking the win. And when social media commenters posted some snide remarks about the amount, Ward decided to spend it all on diapers and baby wipes for Village of Hope homeless shelter in Tustin. Friends and family members matched her donation, and in all they were able to gift 2,400 diapers and 100 boxes of baby wipes.
