The SurfAid Cup is a series of events in Australia and the US that involves top pro and legend surfers who compete on teams fundraising for humanitarian organization SurfAid. The most recent event was held during the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro in Western Australia and the Margaret River Wineries team won with a last-second ride in solid six foot surf.
Eight teams raised $84,000 for SurfAid and real estate agents Caporn Young won the fundraising trophy by collecting $17,500. The pro lineup included former two-time ASP world champion Tom Carroll, current ASP World Championship Tour surfers Travis Logie, Aritz Aranburu, CJ Hobgood and Adrian Buchan, plus locals Jake Paterson, Tom Innes and Luke Campbell.
The next SurfAid Cup will be held at Surfrider Beach, Malibu, California, on Saturday September 6 and last year the legends from The Inertia entered a team.
