Mark Mathews is a lunatic. By any normal standards, the waves Mathews puts himself into on a fairly regular basis are not a scale that’s hard to even comprehend. The wave he found at Waimea Bay on January 21, 2015 is just a reminder that a late drop can go a long way–and while for Mark, it probably wasn’t anything to write home about, for everyone else, it’s pretty damn crazy.
Tim Bonython found himself behind the lens for this one, and now it’s an entry into the Billabong Ride of the Year category of the 2015 XXL Big Wave Awards.
