You will probably never surf anything as well as Mason Ho, Yago Dora, and Michael Rodrigues surf Waco’s BSR Surf park in this edit. Sure, the upbeat music adds to the feeling that these men are basically floating ping pong balls, bouncing off of waves like, well, ping pong balls. But the sentiment is the same nonetheless.
But back to the original point. Ho, Dora, and Rodrigues are at such a high level that the rest of us should just throw in the towel. You can comfort yourself all you want with reminders that it’s not about surfing like anybody else but the person in the mirror. You can fire off motivational quotes about the only competition you ever have in life is yourself. But none of that acknowledges the cold hard fact that if you could surf any wave as well as these men, you would. But you can’t. And you never will.
