The Inertia

Remember when the event at Jaws was called on then called off less than 24-hours later? A few days ago, a massive swell showed up on the charts, and it was heading towards Jaws. Wave heights were projected in the 30-40 foot range. Then, quite suddenly, things changed. The direction shifted, and the swell looked like it was down-sizing. “The BWT has a standard to uphold,” said BWT Commission Peter Mel. “This swell is unfortunately not going to do it for us.”
But just because it wasn’t quite up to snuff for the event didn’t mean that a few board-bucklingly big waves didn’t roll through. The one above, in particular, caught most of the pack in a bit of a precarious situation.
