That's a lot of board in a bad place.

Maxime Huscenot took the brunt of a lost paddle board recently at Hossegor, and it messed him up pretty good. Stand up paddle boards are big. Like, very big. They’re very big and very heavy, they catch waves from much further out than a regular surfboard, and when things go wrong, there’s more chance of some other surfer getting hurt than normal. So, of course, a lot of surfers hate them.

After Huscenot got smashed by the errant paddle/board, he went to the doctor. Keep in mind this was only two days for the Oakley Lowers Pro, which is a pretty important event for anyone competing on the QS. The diagnosis? Torn muscle–and a recommended three to six weeks out of the water.

But Huscenot threw a bunch of tape on that torn up muscle, boarded a plane for the center of the surfing industry, and paddled out anyway. Here’s what he had to say about it on Facebook (sics thanks to google translate, but you’ll get the idea):

Two days before leaving for Trestle 1 000 QS10 of the season, I trained in Hossegor. As you can see from the photo at the top, a paddle dating back to peak lost control and threw his board in my wave while I was surfing. I have not seen him happened and I took the board in the front right arm (the arm in bottom water) … I went past the radios immediately and luckily MR Freeze has Tyrosse m took it quickly and diagnosed a torn muscle on the forearm … 3 to 6 weeks of rest are necessary to heal properly … Mr Remy Lasne, Physio has Capbreton, also received me immediately to m ‘ help deflate before boarding the plane. Fortunately since I was here I found a great place in San Clemente ondscelitesurf. Thank you very much to Dr. Freeze and Dr. Remy Lasne for helping me so quickly before flying here and competetive Kevyn Scott and Ksor on site that helps me in my recovery at best!
I would not 100% but I lâcherais nothing! Now hope to have good waves for compète which begins Tuesday! Looking forward to it! # # GameOn ITSON
