The Inertia

Lenni Jensen is a very talented German surfer. He’s on the German Olympic team and he’s currently grinding his way up the QS rankings.

Jensen, who was born in Mecklenburg/Vorpommernm, moved to Spain in 2009. At the time, he was just 8 years old, and his father lived in Tenerife. The change in location changed something within him. The ocean in Tenerife is a beautiful one, and Jensen quickly began to think of it as his playground.

Kitesurfing, windsurfing, bodyboarding, and skimboarding became his childhood obsessions, and those quickly narrowed in focus to surfing. Now, he’s fully established himself on the European surf scene, and he’s got his eyes on qualification for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Filmer and photographer Miriam Joanna and Eduardo Vento worked together to create the short film you see above. “Lenni Jensen is an introvert as a person with extraordinary surfing skills,” Joanna wrote. “Although he is a reserved, rather shy person, yet everywhere you go everyone knows him… he is as much a local as he is German.”

As his childhood friend and the narrator for the film, Marcella Machado, says, Lenni is a dedicated and focussed person. His focus now is on becoming a better surfer, and he’s doing everything he can to become one.

“With discipline and focus during his trainings and coached surf sessions, he is eager to get better and work on his skills,” Joanna continued. “Yet he shows his creativity and variations during free surf sessions with friends.”
