Part of surfing’s appeal is its ephemerality. Each ride is unique because every wave that rises up from the ocean is different from all others, and then returns to the depths, never to be seen again.
While some of the most iconic surf breaks are celebrated for their ability to regularly produce these idiosyncratic alignments of molecules and energy, sometimes a wave is all the more special for simply appearing out of nowhere before fading away just as quickly.
That’s what happened on a recent strike mission Mikey February went on. In an edit posted to his YouTube channel, February, along with Dylan Graves, Aritz Aranburu, and Brendan Gibbons, surf to the inimitable sounds of Prince.
“The wave broke just once, then it was gone, and so were we,” reads the caption. “All Time is All Time.”
