Mitch Parkinson cut his teeth at Snapper Rocks. It’s one of the world’s most crowded waves, but the quality of it makes the hassle worthwhile. Still, though, every surfer in the world would rather perfect waves with no one out over perfect waves with everyone out, so Mitch Parkinson headed to Indonesia in search of big, empty barrels. And while things didn’t go exactly as planned—things never do, after all—in the end, he found what he was looking for.
