I hate to be the one to tell you this, but if you surf a variety of different waves, the “one-board quiver” or the “quiver killer” simply doesn’t exist. Sure, you can get close. Sure, for the average surfer, a mid-length might work in the widest variety of conditions, but if you’re someone like Nate Florence, you’ve got to have options. Lots of options that cover lots of different conditions.
In this video, Nate, with a freshly shorn head, strays from his usual content. Instead of gurgling slabs and giant barrels, Nate decided to take some time to break down which boards he’s riding and what he’s riding them in. It’s an interesting look at what someone like Nate considers when paddling out. He, of course, paddles out into waves that most people don’t, but hey, it’s nice to dream a bit, isn’t it?
