There’s not a lot of people who know Pipeline better than Nathan Florence. Though the charger’s seemingly constant world tour often takes him away from his North Shore home, you can be sure to always find him back in the lineup when winter hits, and this year is no different. This week, the surfer once again took to YouTube to post his latest report from surfing’s center stage – however, he took a quick break from the action to fly a drone over the lineup and offer some off-the-cuff analysis of the proceedings, based on his well-honed experience.
The sequence forms the first half of his latest video, before returning to his bread and butter of POV edits from his own sessions. In a short time, he provides a wealth of information that can only be gleaned from years of expertise. He breaks down conditions at Pipeline, explains how North Shore lifeguards cover the notoriously dangerous lineup, and singles out some familiar names for analysis of a few rides (he even catches Jamie O’Brien getting caught in a gnarly hold-down, while riding his trademark pink soft-top).
The whole thing is a welcome change of pace – some analysis rather than your typical edit. Check it out below.
