The thrill of exploration can rival any wave. And when the spirit of adventure happens to get you barreled in the process – that’s when surfing is its best. Nathan Florence got to experience both on a recent trip to the Philippines, as he recounted on YouTube.
This is the latest stop on an Asian adventure for the itinerant barrel-hound. Previously, he was humbled by a remote slab in an undisclosed location. This time, though, he went for more of a pleasant experience.
“After scoring some heavy water with [Ivan Florence] and crew, they flew home and [Mahina Florence] and I met up and flew onward to experience and explore more of Asia,” he explained in a chyron accompanying footage of the excursion. “We ended up in an already popular area but completely new to us. Heard about a potentially fun left a short boat ride away and off we went to check it out.”
When he arrived, he found a bevy of locals getting absolutely barreled in the shelter of a picturesque rock outcropping. With wife Mahina in tow, he paddled out and scored. Check out the full video below.
