When you come from Florence stock, there are big shoes to fill. It goes without saying that John John Florence has long been a media darling that’s unintentionally shadowed the achievements of younger brothers Nathan and Ivan. But in five to ten years it’s likely 2018/2019 will come to be known as Nate’s breakout period. In 2018, he won O’Neill’s Wave of the Winter and earlier this year he won the scariest surf contest on Earth, Red Bull’s Cape Fear, at Shipstern Bluff in dramatic fashion.
