Nic von Rupp and Frederico Morais have been friends for a long, long time. Growing up, they shared a common dream — a couple of common dreams, actually. Dreams of perfect waves and dreams of becoming professional surfers who traveled the world searching for those waves. Now, 15 years later, Nic is a big wave surfer and Frederico is on the world tour. Although they might not see each other as often as they did when they were kids — surfers’ schedules aren’t exactly conducive for making plans — they still manage to meet up every year at Coxos, which might be Portugal’s best point break. And this year, they met for what they’re calling “the session of the year.”
