Macaronis is a very popular wave. As is the case with most popular waves, when the waves are good, it’s crowded. Like, really crowded. There’s a reason why it’s so popular: it’s one of the world’s most user-friendly waves that offers up barrels, room for turns, and if you’ve got it in your tool belt, aerials. Nic von Rupp is a man with many things in his surfing tool belt, and like everyone else, he’s dreamed of surfing Macaronis without the crowd since he was a kid. And recently, that dream came true.
“It was crazy to show up there and surf it for two days with very few people around,” he wrote. “You would catch a wave and be straight in line for the next set. I think this might only happen to me once in a lifetime.”
