The Inertia

I love surfing, but I’ve become more interested in the stories that come from surfing… specifically, the surfers themselves. Since surfing has become increasingly popular in developing countries, there have been more and more great surfers who come from very little means. They either make it despite the odds, or they can’t get discovered because of money issues or restrictions from their own countries.

I just recently returned from traveling in Morocco where I came across a great surf scene and world-class waves. While there, I met a surfer named Redouane Regragui who rides for Quiksilver. He described to me some of his struggles in making it out of the country and onto a bigger scale. Redouane is simply trying to become an international success so he can make his family, friends, and (most importantly) his country proud.
