We are less than two weeks away from the kickoff of the 2023 Challenger Series schedule, which should bring plenty of intrigue among surf fans who care about the revolving door of athletes qualifying for the Championship Tour, fighting to keep their spot there, and those that are falling off and hoping to re-qualify. No doubt there were plenty of CT vets who were just eliminated at Margaret River over the weekend and took a day to let it sink in and regroup (or didn’t), and packed their bags to put in some time at Snapper Rock before the Boost Mobile Gold Coast Pro.
With that in mind, the already world-famous point break is about to get a little more chaotic than usual. As if a wave that fast doesn’t present enough challenges, the absolutely insane crowd factor only adds to the possibility that you’re going to see (or be on the receiving end of) some spills. Forcing late takeoffs, dodging boards, just plain getting smoked. Hell, even timing your walk off the point wrong can earn you a spot in a wipeout reel like this one. It features everyday, average Joes and even a few familiar pros, all paying their dues to be a part of one of the most hectic lineups in the world.
