Getting to waves like this should absolutely come with a price tag. Not that a person should be punished for such treasures, but because anything this amazing must be earned.
Occy and Shane Dorian just passed that lesson down to a younger generation of All-Stars, driving 13-hours through the Australian desert and sleeping — or trying to sleep — through borderline freezing nights.
The outcome? Well, Occy’s now in his 50s. Shane has just moved into the second half of his 40s. Meanwhile, everybody else on the trip is less than half their age: Jack Robinson, Laura Enever, Shaun Manners, and Kai Hing. And let’s just say the 20-somethings put on one helluva show for Shane and Occy and basically instruct a clinic of their own design.
