It’s no secret that the Ho family is filled with its fair share of really, really amazing surfers. Also, unless you’ve been living under a rock with zero access to social media the past few days, you already know the North Shore of Oahu really turned on over the weekend; kind of the unofficial kickoff/opening weekend to what we all hope is going to be another great winter. Mix all those things together and what we got was a glimpse at some quality family time at Pipe for Derek, Mike and Mason Ho.
Sure, Mason stands out, as always. But the highlights here come from watching his father and uncle, the guys with three Pipe Masters between them.
“He’s got issues, man,” Mason told Stab about his 59-year old father. “I tried to talk him into not going out. I was like dad, it’s too big and it’s shitty. But if I tell him that he’ll just want to do it more. I broke my leash that day (last Sunday) and couldn’t get back in, it sucked me out to the second reef and I had to swim around. Pops just went out and went looney.”
