I became reacquainted with photography a little over a year ago when my roommate let me borrow her small, Canon point and shoot. Soon after that I graduated to a “bridge camera” by Panasonic, and I’ve been using it ever since. My passion for photography came alive once again and I wanted to capture the memories of my surfing life along with my good surfing friends.
I started surfing at eleven years old while living in the Costa Mesa and Newport Beach area. Growing up surfing in Newport and Huntington was amazing and the culture behind it still resonates even to this day. That’s the focal point in my photography now – south Orange County – where I had migrated to 20 years ago. It’s a bit more laid back down south and the surfing history and culture is still reminiscent of the early days when Hobie set up shop in Dana Point, seeing local legends like Danny Estrada and Mickey Munoz in the water at Doheny. My passion is to please the eye and mind with the various expressions displayed by my surfing family of friends and to capture nature’s different colors in our local seaside towns.
