Surfing’s a weird thing, ain’t it? Individuality is celebrated, but there aren’t too many people who don’t surf like someone else. Most of us just fall in line and subscribe to the same methods of moving along a wave. Stand up like that. Turn like this. Arms move just so, knees are bent this way. Which is kind of strange, if you think about it, because surfing for the masses is about one thing and one thing only: having fun. There isn’t a right way to do it. There’s not a wrong way. There’s just doing it. In the end, you’re simply sliding on an overpriced toy on a moving lump of oceanic energy. Owen Kaestner has that dialed in. Fins? Not if you don’t want to. Stand up?
