The Inertia

Owen Wright has been forced to withdraw from the remainder of the 2013 ASP WCT season after sustaining a back injury at Bells.

Last April, Wright suffered a disk injury after landing awkwardly after a floater. He finished his heat, but when he came out he was in so much pain he couldn’t get his wetsuit off.

After a recent setback, his medical team advised the 23-year-old Australian not to resume competing, recommending instead that he focus on a strong return to the tour next year.

Look for his return to the tour at the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast in 2014.
