Palm Springs Surf Club will play host to a music event timed to coincide with the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The event, dubbed Goldenvoice Surf Club, will feature performances by electronic dance music and alt pop artists also appearing on the main Coachella lineup.
Los Angeles promoter Goldenvoice will take over the wave pool on April 13-14 and April 20-21. The first weekend will be headlined by a DJ set from Bicep on Saturday. The second weekend will be headlined by Skream and Benga Saturday, then a DJ set from Jungle on Sunday. Other featured acts will be Barry Can’t Swim, Salute, Mia Moretti, Mall Grab, Skin On Skin, and more.

However, while promotion for the event mentions the venue’s much anticipated wave pool, it is unclear if it will actually be functional by then. PSSC opened on January first to much fanfare, but almost immediately shut down due to unexplained technical issues. On January 16th, a PSSC representative told NBC, “We don’t have a timeframe yet to reopen the wave pool,” and updates since then have been scarce. The website does not list any availabilities for wave pool reservations, and Instagram commenters as recently as four days ago have complained of a lack of updates on the wave pool and an inability to secure a refund for already-made bookings.
The event will actually be one of two mini-festivals to use a wave pool as a music venue this year. In May, Waco Surf (formerly BSR) will host Landlock, a three-day event featuring 20 bands. Landlock will also host a surf competition with a roster that includes Brianna Cope, Emma Stone, Balaram Stack, Eithan Osbourne, Matt Meola, Ivy Miller, Cam Richards, Albee Layer and others.
Tickets for Goldenvoice Surf Club go on sale Thursday, March 14 at 11:00 A.M. PT. Single-day general admission passes are $40 and a weekend pass starts at $75.
