The Inertia

A new wave is coming to Perth. Perth Surf Park, a new project from surf park developer and operator Aventuur, has just broken ground.

The park, located in Jandakot, is expected to begin operation in Spring 2027, and open to the public later that year. It will be powered by a 62-module Wavegarden Cove, the largest lagoon made by the company, equal in size to its existing São Paulo facility.

In addition to the wave itself, there are a number of ancillary amenities also on tap. The full facility promises to include a members’ clubhouse, high-performance surf academy, wellness studio, retail and equipment facilities, outdoor training areas and a skate park.

“Today marks a significant milestone for the Perth Surf Park, and for everyone who has been part of the journey,” said Aventuur Chair and Chief Development Officer Andrew Ross in a press release. “For Perth, this is about delivering a truly special community asset that embodies our surfing history, culture and coastal lifestyle – a destination that is by the West, for the West.”

The project also has the stamp of approval from Surfing WA, the governing body for surfing competitions in Western Australia. “It will complement our natural coastline, reduce pressure on crowded breaks, and create new opportunities for participation and athlete development right on Perth’s doorstep,” said CEO Mark Lane.
