The Inertia

This is not a story of surf and hiking, though they did travel with board and boots. Rather, this is a story about Peru, told through the places and people that lend topography to the country and give voice to the nation. And in that, it is far and away one of the most powerful visual journeys we have taken through video.

David Bertschinger Karg wrote it best: “Equipped with a surfboard, a tent, and a sleeping bag, we traveled Peru in the summer of 2015. Hiking the Peruvian Andes…”

“…going back to school at SKIP in Trujillo…”

“…and surfing points in northern Peru…”

…are just a few things we got to experience on this incredible journey.”

“Just a few things” is a tremendous understatement and one that Karg & Co. graciously convey in their short film, the unspoken nature of which only elevates the project to a truly admirable plane.

This might be a short film about surf and hiking, but it is a story about so much more.
