Peter King is one of surfing’s strongest voices. King, better known as PK, started off as a grom in La Jolla, then went on to tackle the pro circuit, and eventually found his place among the surfing world’s preeminent videographers. Now, thanks to a collaboration with A New Earth Project, he’s lending his veteran’s eye to documenting surfing’s center stage: Pipeline.
PIPELINE: A Peter King Film was shot entirely during the 2024-2025 North Shore winter season. In it, King captures more than just the yawning barrels that we’ve seen from the wave, ad nauseum. He crafts a holistic vision of the entire season, replete with behind-the-scenes moments from the chargers who take on the wave.
And those chargers are a legion. The documentary has a star-studded cast, featuring veterans, Pipe masters, local heroes and up-and-coming talent. Among the names to look out for are Kelly Slater, John John Florence, Moana Jones Wong, Zeke Lau, Koa Rothman, Mason Ho, Jamie O’Brien, Tosh Tudor and Legend Chandler.
“Pipeline: A Peter King Film is a raw, immersive portrait of surfing’s most sacred wave,” reads the blurb for the film. “With unprecedented access and a camera always rolling, PK captures moments no one else could — from historic barrels to unfiltered conversations with legends. This is not just a surf film. It’s a front-row seat to a season that will go down in history, told through the eyes of one of the North Shore’s most trusted storytellers.”
