Day three of the Hurley Pro was a welcome sight with a slight lift in conditions. However, there were too many references to “small but rippable” conditions to make the waves worth bragging about. Regardless, the surfing was entertaining with plenty of high scoring heats and upsets galore. Kelly Slater and Joel Parkinson were both upset and Jordy Smith and Mick Fanning advanced making the title race much closer. The highlight of the day was Julian Wilson in Heat 4 of Round 4. He went absolutely bonkers on the buttery walls of a building Lowers low tide. Watch the heat here.
