The Inertia

Poopies made a name for himself in the surfing world by doing things on camera that could be considered dumb. He jumped off tall things, slid down steep things, skied off hard things, and generally put his body on the line for our entertainment. He did it under the tutelage of Jamie O’Brien, although Jamie O’Brien never really tutored him. Instead, Jamie would point at something and Poopies would leap off it.

The similarities to Jackass and CKY were impossible to miss. You could tell that, when they were growing up, both Poopies and Jamie O’Brien watched Johnny Knoxville and Bam Margera and the rest of the crew. So it wasn’t all that surprising when rumors began to float around that Poopies would be joining the Jackass crew for Jackass 4. It felt like it was what Poopies was working towards since he first took a dump in the middle of the street. It felt like Poopies was on the right track. Of course, when your “right track” involves hooking up with the Jackass crew, the argument could be made that it’s not the right track at all, but it all depends on your perspective, I suppose.

“There’s a lot of bad stuff that’s happened,” says Johnny Knoxville. “But Poopies made a name for himself real quick.”

By made a name for himself, Knoxville means that Poopies covered himself in chum and tried to jump over a bunch of sharks. It went poorly, to say the least. Poopies easily could have died. But he didn’t, which is extraordinarily lucky. Poopies breaks down into tears when he’s talking about how he felt in that moment, and it’s hard to watch.

The Poopies shark attack could possibly go down in history as the dumbest stunt in Jackass history. But we’ll have to wait for the movie to come out to make sure.
