My name is Andy Potts, and I’m based out of the Gold Coast, Australia. I have made the ocean an essential part of my life from the age of 14, after moving there from wave starved Adelaide many years ago. I introduced myself to photography about seven years ago. After the crowds and my selfishness for solitude finally took its toll in the water, I couldn’t give it all away and taking photos of the element I adored so much seemed to come natural from the beginning. From then on, it’s all been about gathering as much knowledge from my mentors as I can. I love knowing that I know nothing about something I want to know everything about.
The last two years have been focussed on travel and self promotion. I have been lucky enough to visit and shoot some incredible locations, including Hawaii, Indonesia, Fiji, the Maldives and plenty of action back home in Australia, too. During this time, I have also focussed on the release of my newly upgraded website, Andypotts.com.au.
For 2014, I will spending the majority of my time over in the Mentawais, Indonesia. This will include on-location work with The Perfect Wave at Aloita resort, Resident photographer/videographer at Macaronis resort and also 10 trips aboard the “Oasis” surf charters.
