We’re excited to announce the launch of “Power Trip,” a brand new series from The Inertia that documents good old fashioned road trip adventures. Follow along with our crew as they pack up, hit the highway, and explore.
Presented by Visit California, our first four episodes document two trips throughout one of America’s greatest road trip destinations…you guessed it: California. For these two escapades, we assembled an up-for-whatever team and built out ambitious itineraries to pack as much adventure into the daylight hours as possible. Our goal for each trip was to showcase the diverse regions of California and highlight unique experiences only available on an adventure through the Golden State.
Our first trip shines a bright spotlight on the grandeur of Southern California. Starring Imperfects Founder, Mike Lynch, and Un Mar de Colores Executive Director, Mario Ordonez-Calderon, the team begins in San Diego. From sampling iconic surf spots, to grubbing on tacos, and playing in the snow, to literally jumping off a cliff at Torrey Pines Glider Port, the duo takes viewers on an epic journey through San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Big Bear Mountain, and Desert Hot Springs. Along the way, they meet up with a bonafide L.A. taco expert, a professional mountain biker, and pro snowboarder – among other colorful characters – to get a flare for the diverse personalities who call Southern California home.
Trip two shifts north, starting in San Francisco. In the Golden City, surfer and comedic savant Jeremy Searle joins Sacramento-based filmer and snowboarder Luis Medearis to explore California’s upper latitudes. The pair absorbs some of San Francisco’s landmarks then voyages to the North Coast, Central Valley, Sonoma, and the High Sierras. From surfing in San Francisco to a sunrise hot air balloon ride to a game of S-N-O-W with pro snowboarder and X-Games medalist, Zeb Powell, the journey reveals the magnetic diversity of Northern California’s people, places, and culture.
The first episode of The Inertia’s four-part series launches today, Tuesday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. PST. Stay tuned for part two, dropping Thursday, April 20.
