New Jersey’s Andrew Gesler is happy as a clam at the moment. For most, barrels like this don’t come around very often, and getting paid for them, well, is about as rare as empty lineups in California, four leaf clovers, and albino humpback whales (which you should totally Google). This lovely gem produced by winter storm Juno landed Andrew the GoPro of the World for January, one thousand big ones, a GoPro HERO4 Black Edition, a year subscription to Surfline, and a wonderful moment that he can clearly relive for the rest of his life.

This is what Andrew had to say to Surfline about that faithful day:

“The day I shot this clip was the morning after winter storm Juno passed over New Jersey,” Gesler said. “It was frigid and the beach was buried in snow but the surf was pumping. As good as it gets at the wave we surfed that morning. I’ve been trying to get a steady shot with myself in perspective with the GoPro for some time now with little to no success. Whether it was a shaky camera, the wave ending in a closeout, running out of battery due to the cold temps or just pointing the wrong way, I just never had a perfect clip. Needless to say, I was pumped to see this clip after the session. And after slowing it down, all the brain-freeze beat-downs were instantly worth it.”
