Professional surfers are heavily responsible for today’s soft top explosion. Sticking their board transfers in waves of consequence and spreading viral videos of themselves getting barreled out of their minds atop foamies shifted soft tops from a beginners only taboo to something everybody added to their quiver.
Still, the average Joe doesn’texactly surf his soft top like these folks.
“I’m pretty stoked, I don’t know if that means I’m like soft top world champion right now,” Josh Kerr asks after winning the Los Cabos Open of Surf’s Soft Top Soiree — an event you kind of can’t be surprised was introduced at Mexico’s best summer surf contest/festival/throwdown/festival/fiesta. It’s exactly what you’d expect: a bunch of people who rip just completely showing off, managing to put the words “soft top” and “high performance” in the same sentence.
Maybe he should be the soft top world champ. Maybe these guys and gals just built a solid case for bringing us a full-on Soft Top World Tour.
