Carlos Gauna, or the Malibu Artist, is an expert drone pilot who has long captured footage of great white sharks along the California Coast. In this rare edit, he shows the hunting patterns of young great whites as they scour for one of their favorite meals – bat rays.
But it doesn’t always go as planned for the sharks. Sometimes the predators will come away with a barb embedded in their mouths as the rays defend themselves. And that can’t be a good thing. Gauna says that this can sometimes even be fatal. It’s a tough, beautiful world out in the wild. And Gauna’s footage portrays that to a T.
