The Inertia

Sure he had a difficult 2014 season, but that should not take away from the fact that Jeremy Flores requalified for the 2015 WCT and made the Finals at the Reef Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa last year. But something tells me he would have performed a tad better had he been surfing on Kelly’s boards all year. Don’t get me wrong, Jeremy is an incredible surfer, but he seems to have a little extra pep in his step while riding Kelly’s board.

This begs the question: how much does equipment really matter? The simple answer to this is: A LOT! For starters, it’s undeniable that the Champ has dialed his boards to a friggin’ tee over the several decades he’s been surfing. He’s eliminated all and everything about his boards that doesn’t stimulate optimal advantage and performance. Thus, it is no surprise why someone like Jeremy- who hasn’t had quite the same amount of time to dial his boards- would rip just as good, if not better, on a board that wasn’t shaped to his exact liking.
