The Inertia

She’s called the Queen of the Coast for a reason. Yes, you can get good waves just about anywhere in California. And if you know your nooks and crannies around home, you can even escape the Golden State’s infamous crowds for some amazing waves of your own. But none of those waves are Rincon.

The thought of a pre-dawn drive to the Santa Barbara/Ventura County line, whether it’s up from Los Angeles or down from the Central Coast, can be exhausting. The crowds–such crazy crowds. So. Many. People. But then you think about having just one of her waves all to yourself and suddenly it doesn’t seem so crazy.

So when the California Coast lit up last weekend, it’s no surprise plenty of people made the trek to Rincon, including Los Angeles photographer Brad Jacobson and a posse of his South Bay friends. And as you can see, it looks every bit worth the drive. Hopefully she has more in store for us this weekend.
