The Inertia

Are you the type of person who always wants what you can’t have? Are you the type of person who likes very fun surfboards? Are you also the type of person who doesn’t live in Japan? If those two things are the case, then you’re really going to want Firewire’s Seawolf model.

As you’re likely aware, Rob Machado is a surfboard designer of some acclaim. If we’re to judge by any of his other Firewire models, Rob isn’t all that interested in riding a regular shortboard. His designs are a little more user-friendly; not created for the world tour, by any means, but created for the surfer who likes to catch lots of waves and still have that certain je nais se quois.

“I didn’t want to do a conventional shortboard with a pointy nose, so this is my alternative,” he says of the Seawolf, which apparently is not available outside of Japan. “It’s got the volume and the width to be able to ride small waves, but it’s not too wide and too thick where you can’t ride bigger, hollower, rounder waves. I feel like it’s that perfect little blend.”
