Because of its geographical location, San Diego County doesn’t always perform well on a south swell. It’s more of a winter spot, when west and northwest swells pour in and create wave-riding bliss. Unless, that is, you know where to go. And if you know where to go, well, then, you can certainly score. Especially if the south swell is big enough.
That’s what happened in late August and the YouTube channel SoCal Surfer recently posted this raw cut of regular surfers, surfing irregular waves in San Diego. The beachbreak type that, if you pick the right one, barrel perfectly.
