Surfing in Ireland is no joke. It’s not the type of spot where you can conveniently drive right up and have a refreshing bottle of warm water to rinse off afterwards. First, you basically have to be a mountain goat to navigate the treacherous cliffs. Then, if you survive that, that’s where the tough part begins. Not only are the waves massive, but the water is freezing, the wind is constantly howling, and sharp, jagged rocks are seemingly everywhere. Shane Dorian and Benjamin Sanchis, who are both borderline psychotic, don’t seem to be fazed at all. Here they are on a trip with Desillusion Magazine and Billabong, where they navigate the rural corners of Co Clare, Ireland: a place where only very few men have gone before.
