The Inertia

Skate legend and Venice local Christian Hosoi may be getting “older,” but his ’80s flair is as flamboyant as ever — and that timeless style is making the transition to surf. The innovator was put to work at the Encinitas-based UNIV Work Shop, where he and UNIV’s James Addonizio took the famed pool cruiser to the ocean with the Hammerhead surfboard. One of the cooler parts of the edit is when Hosoi talks about shaping skateboards way back when, using a similar foam base; and the moment the wave riders are revealed from out of the back of a truck: the man’s stoke is epic.

Anyhow, Benji Weatherby and Dylan Graves tested the prototypes and were all smiles.
