As what seemed like an endless summer began to fade here in San Diego, I traveled south of the border with a group of friends to experience a brief change of pace. We packed into the shop van and swiftly passed through the border checkpoint in record time. The weather was perfect, the waves were uncrowded, and the tacos were fresh. Sometimes living so close to the border, you forget how easy it is to escape the mundane and seek refuge south of somewhere.
